Smartphone makers have released many new features or technologies in their handsets. Face Unlock is one of these techniques. This feature is made for unlocking the phone easier than ever. The user only has to bring the phone in front of his face and unlock the phone. But have you ever tried to know that is this feature safe for your phone? If not, then we are going to give you important information related to this feature in this post.

When was Launch Launched Face Unlocking Feature?
Google launched this feature first in Android 4.0 in 2011. But at that time, its process was quite slow, which did not allow this feature to come in more limelight. After which this feature was re-introduced in March 2017 with Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 +.

Several improvements have also been made to improve this. However, that time this technology was not discussed much. But in September 2017 when Face ID was introduced with the iPhone X, this technique became most popular among the users.
How does the Face Unlocking feature work?
Apple Face ID is built by TrueDeath camera system. There are 30000 invisible dots that make a unique 3D model of the user’s face which gets saved to unlock the phone. Whenever the user wants to unlock their iPhone X via Face ID, the phone’s camera captures Infrared Imagination through the infrared (IR) camera, reading the dot pattern. After this the image is sent for verification. The phone unlocks after this process. The point to consider is that this complete process is completed in less than 1 or 2 seconds.
According to Kaspersky Labs, “Face ID feature in the budget phone depends only on front facing camera and common algorithms. But without the regular IR sensor and dot projector, the Regular 2D camera can also unlock the phone by displaying photos. “At the same time, companies who making Android smartphones that have claimed that the Face Unlocking feature is unsafe rather than fingerprint and typing the password. .
Let us tell you that a discclerk is also provided with the Samsung S9 smartphone, that Face Recognition feature is less secure than feature lock screen such as iris scanner, pattern, pin and password. Similar Disclaimer is available with Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. On the other hand, talking about oneplus, this company also considers Face ID less secure than fingerprint. Also, it does not allow the fade feature to make payments.
How can I get rid of this problem?
Vivo recently updated the safer Face Unlock tool than ever before. At the same time, Samsung has released less secure facial removal solution for the Iris scanner, which will provide two-layer protection to users. Apart from this, Huawei is working on the 3D face mapping tool like Apple Face ID.
Sunil Abraham, executive director of the Center for Internet Security, said that users have also agreed that Face ID is an unsafe feature. For this, companies can not be held responsible because companies have given several secure option like patterns and passwords in addition to Face ID.
Thank you
